Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. Tracy Chevalier, bestselling author of The Last Runaway and Girl with a Pearl Earring returns to Hudson for an intimate engagement at Case-Barlow Farm (1931 Barlow Road Hudson, OH). This event is open to the public; tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the Learned Owl Book Shop (204 N. Main Street, Hudson). All proceeds from the ticket sales will go directly to Case Barlow Farm in an effort to rebuild the barn. Included in the cost of the ticket is an in depth discussion with Chevalier about her research methods, light refreshments, and tours of the farm house.

Conference events will take place in Clark Hall (11130 Bellflower Road) and Guilford House (11112 Bellflower Road) on the Case Western Reserve University campus.
In her keynote address: Closer Than You Think: Thoughts on Genre Bending, Blending and Plain-Old Jumping Ship, Ohio author Paula McLain will discuss her experience writing and publishing across genres, the unique challenges and pleasures of working within and without boundaries, and the remarkable things that can happen when you stop thinking you're a poet, memoirist, or novelist, and start acting like a writer.
Other workshop presenters at this all-day event are: Joyce Dyer, Sarah Gridley, Charles Oberndof, Lynn Powell, Brad Ricca, Jim Sheeler, Sarah Willis and David Young. Cuyahoga County Public Library's free summer writing workshops will explore a variety of genres and techniques. Meet published writers hosted by the Library, ask questions about their craft and get a book signed! The first workshop, Real Life Into Story: A Workshop in Essay and Memoir, is a 10-week series that will be held on Saturdays beginning June 1, 2013, 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Registration is required for each workshop. One of the featured authors is Taylor Stevens, author of The Informationist, The Innocent and The Doll. Stevens will present a workshop on the business of publishing a bestseller. This event will be held Monday, June 17, 2013, 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Independence Branch.
